The clearer you are on what you want and why you want it, the clearer your outcomes will be.
Twisted Crochet began as a handmade business and my focus was solely on finished fashion accessories ~ hats, scarves, sweaters ~ and blankets. Because who doesn’t love a snuggly blanket, right?
Anyway, in 2018 I took a sharp left into pattern designing and publishing and for a brief moment that felt like an eternity, I was going to ditch finished items and focus solely on patterns.
What the frig was I thinking?
I thought I could merge both patterns and finished items. But guess what?
Crochet patterns have a much different audience than finished crochet wearables. Two entirely different messages. Two entirely different everything. It’s like I tried to be New Coke.
And just like New Coke, I failed. My patterns, while as great and awesome as I think they are, never found a groove. And I never found my ideal client who wanted my patterns.
But you know what? I know exactly who loves my finished handmade awesomeness. And that’s you.
You deserve my undivided attention when it comes to keeping warm in the winter or wearing one of my sexy tank tops in the summer. I get you.
And that brings me to this important handmade announcement:
After careful consideration and a brief look at the numbers, I’ve decided to focus solely on custom orders and finished items.
What does that mean?
I’m getting out of the pattern writing business.
Most of you won’t be surprised by this.
And probably wondered why I took a hard left turn into publishing patterns.
So here’s the deal: my handmade items are 90% my original designs. That won’t change.
The other 10% come from testing patterns for other designers, like the hot cocoa hooded sweater I’m wearing by @lilliaserendesigns
My existing patterns will stay on Ravelry and I’m going to let the ones on Etsy manually expire on their own.
At some point this year, I’ll convert my patterns into blog posts that won’t be cluttered with ads. Or maybe create a page with links to all my patterns for FREE.
My newsletter will now be focused for those who love my finished items.
For those of you who’ve tested my patterns, thank you! You are truly the wind beneath every designers’ wings.
Onward and upward with clarity and purpose.
